Monday May 3, 2004

Dear Friends,

Joyce Walker was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame on April 21, 2004. She was one of five former high school athletes selected to be part of this inaugural class of the Hall of Fame.

Joyce graduated from Garfield in 1980, where she led the undefeated Bulldogs girls basketball team to the 1980 state title and still holds eight state-tournament records. A two-time All-American at Louisiana State, she played on numerous U.S. national teams and was one of two women to play with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Happy, humble, grateful...

...and a celebrity!

This was a red letter day for Garfield and for Joyce.

Congratulations, Coach!
