MISSION OF THE GARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION
To gather the hearty support of all of its constituencies, and provide Garfield High School with sustainable funding and resources that will assure and advance student achievement and school programs.

We envision Garfield High School, an outstanding learning environment historically rich in cultural diversity and academic excellence, achieving the best results for every single student.

OUR VISION
The Garfield Foundation will build and perpetuate a legacy of excellence in all areas of the school through the establishment of an endowment fund. We believe that all children deserve a quality education. Building this fund will enrich the school and community, in addition to creating a plan for excellence that outlasts any individual program or administration. It will be directed by an independent Foundation board and financially administered by the Alliance for Education.

Thank you for your generous support of the GHS Foundation!

THE GHS FOUNDATION HONORS
THE MORIGUCHI FAMILY

Seven siblings, Kenzo, Suwako, Tomio, Akira, Hisako, Toshio and Tomomko graduated from Garfield High School between 1952 and 1963. The Moriguchis not only bring honor to their parents who founded Uwajimaya, they bring honor to their children, grandchildren, and the entire community. They also bring honor to Garfield High School. Their story, like so many Garfield Stories, is one of courage, dedication and a commitment to build and grow the community in which they live and work.

THE PEER TUTORING PROGRAM
Students teaching students. Building relationships. Making connections. This fabulous event is designed to raise $25,000 to establish and support the Peer Tutoring Program, created to enable and challenge all students, including struggling students and advanced learners. The goal of the new Peer Tutoring Program is to help students gain success in writing and math.

The GHSF board has selected the Peer Tutoring Program as the beneficiary of the first $25,000 raised this evening. The additional funds raised will go to the endowment fund to be used for future programs at Garfield High School. As we continue to build our endowment the strength of our giving power continues to grow. Thank you for your contributions this evening.
