GHSF > Summer Bridge Program

The Garfield High School Foundation gave $22,000 to fully fund the 2009 Garfield High School Summer Bridge Program.

Open to all incoming freshmen, 91 Bulldogs spent 3+ hours a day, 5 days a week, for 5 weeks during the summer of 2009 (June 29 to July 31) preparing for high school. The funds provided by GHSF supported the 10 certified teachers and the 70 University of Washington teacher candidates.

"I learned that this school really is welcoming and they actually care about my education and want all of us to succeed in life. This may sound corny, but I know that I'm going to love this school and never want to leave."

Garfield High School was very happy with the Summer Bridge Program and plans to run this program every year. GHSF has committed to raising funds to support this program as it grows to serve as many incoming freshmen as possible.
